Privacy policy
We try to collect as little as possible and to describe what we do collect plainly. This page names every tool that touches your data: a web-analytics tool (Google Analytics), an optional email-alerts form (Formspree), and the standard logs kept by our hosting provider. We run no advertising or ad-tracking networks.
Web analytics (Google Analytics 4)
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-29SPQL5YLK) to understand which articles and tools readers find useful. To do this, Google Analytics runs a small piece of JavaScript on our pages and sets cookies in your browser. It collects usage data such as the pages you view, the events you trigger (for example, starting or completing our system selector or five-year cost calculator), your approximate location (derived from your IP address, not your precise location), and your device and browser type.
We use this only in aggregate to improve the site; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not run Google Analytics Advertising features or share this data with ad networks. This processing is carried out by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out across all sites with Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies/analytics in your browser or an extension. If you do, the site works exactly the same.
Email alerts (optional, via Formspree)
Some pages (currently the homepage and the five-year cost calculator) offer an optional form to receive occasional price-and-permit update alerts. If you choose to submit it, we collect the email address you enter and a note of which page you submitted from, so the alerts are relevant. Submitting the form is entirely your choice; nothing on this site requires an email address.
The form is processed by Formspree, which passes your submission to us and stores it under its own privacy policy. We use your address only to send the alerts you asked for and never sell or rent it. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing contact@homesecurity-systems-alarms.com with "unsubscribe" in the subject, and we will remove you promptly and keep you on a suppression list so you are not contacted again.
What our hosting provider collects
Like almost every website, this site is served by a hosting provider whose web servers keep standard access logs. These typically record your IP address, the pages you request, the time of the request, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. We use these logs, if at all, only for security and troubleshooting. They are retained and handled according to the hosting provider's own policies.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising trackers. We run no third-party ad networks, retargeting pixels, or ad-tech cookies.
- No accounts. You can't create an account here, and we ask for no personal information beyond the optional email-alerts form described above.
- No selling of data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or any other information.
If you email us
If you contact us at contact@homesecurity-systems-alarms.com, we'll have your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to act on what you sent (for example, publishing a correction). We do not sell contact information or add you to any list without your explicit request.
Affiliate links
We currently have no active affiliate partnerships (see our affiliate disclosure). If we join affiliate programs in future, clicking an affiliate link would take you to a third-party site that may set its own cookies to attribute a sale. That happens on their site, under their privacy policy. We will update this section and label such links clearly before any go live.
External links
Our articles link to manufacturer sites, government resources, and other third parties. Once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Children
This site is written for adults making household purchasing decisions. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and describe the change plainly rather than hiding it in legal boilerplate. Meaningful changes (like adding a new tool that collects data, or joining an affiliate program) will be stated in their own section, as above.
